Dementia Awareness


​This course is aimed at carers who want to offer effective support with compassion to sufferers of dementia. The course provides an awareness of best practice on how to care for someone with the condition.

Course content:

  • Definition of the term ‘dementia’

  • Identifying the signs of dementia

  • Explanation of the importance of a person centred approach

  • Describing the impact of dementia on individuals, families and society

  • Discuss around communicating strategies that are compassionate

  • The reasons why a person with dementia may exhibit signs of distress

  • Explaining how behaviours seen in people with dementia may be a means of communicating unmet needs.


Attendees of the course receive an AAA Training Certificate.
