Safeguarding of the Vulnerable Adult


This 3 hour course covers the physical and emotional aspects of safeguarding vulnerable adults. It includes duty of care, sign of abuse and what to do if you suspect abuse.

The course covers:


  • Duty of care –  Employer / Employees

  • Definitions of  "vulnerable adults" and "safeguarding of adults”

  • Explaining the concept of the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults in a care setting

  • Defining the term "abuse" and discussing the categories of abuse

  • Confidentiality

  • Risk assessment

  • Rights and responsibilities of vulnerable adults

  • How to report and who to report suspected abuse to

  • Dignity and respect

  • Boundaries

  • Listening skills

  • Working within the No Secrets Act and POVA /SOVA legislation

  • Working within the organisation’s relevant policies.


Attendees of the course receive an AAA Training Certificate.
